Southside Pub is located on the island of Södermalm and conveniently close to Zinkensdamm station. On their website, they claim to be ‘Stockholm’s friendliest pub’ and I’d say that’s a fairly accurate description. The staff there are always really lovely and polite. The service is usually efficient with never much of a wait at the bar.
The pub is large with plenty of seating. It has a cosy and welcoming feel to it with a good design and layout. They have predominantly a wood and leather style and it really works. There is no outside seating but there are plenty of large windows making it light and airy during the daytime.
This is one of the pubs in Stockholm that is known for showing sports and a destination when there is a big match on. They also regularly have live music and a weekly pub quiz too.
They have a good drink selection with a range of beers from around the world. The ones from the UK remind me of the selection you would find in a small country pub in England, which is quite nice. They also have a small but good selection of whiskies Price wise I would say the drinks are quite reasonable and slightly below the average for Stockholm.
The food I am yet to try but it does look good for pub food! The menu has dishes that you wouldn’t expect to see such as lobster soup and champagne sorbet but it is intriguing and certainly tempting. Again, I would say the prices are reasonable and what you would expect to pay.
In summary, this is a popular pub and for good reason. It is one that we will keep going back to time and time again. I highly recommend Southside if you have not yet been there.
